Taika Waititi has tattooed his wife Rita Ora‘s first initial on his right hand as a romantic gesture.
The New Zealand filmmaker, 47, and The Masked Singer judge, 32, put on a loved-up show at a pre-Grammy celebration in Los Angeles last week, and their public displays of devotion are now reaching new heights.
The writer of What We Do In The Shadows shared black and white photos and a video of his new tattoo, which is carved into the skin between his thumb and index finger and simply says the word ‘R’ in a strong typeface.
You’d suppose it has something to do with his wife Rita, who just announced their marriage after months of uncertainty.
However, the Thor: Ragnarok director captioned the photos, ‘I adore Rugby,’ which we can only assume is a joke… Right?
The actor also shared a photo to back up his remark, in which he finished the phrase on his tattoo to spell out the contact sport (which is incredibly popular in New Zealand due to their formidable team the All Blacks).

Natasha Lyonne of Orange Is the New Black reacted with two love heart smiling faces, while Major Lazer’s Diplo continued the joke, saying, ‘It’s a fantastic game.’
Taika and Rita are said to have matching tattoos, with R on Taika’s right hip bone and T on the inside of Rita’s left ankle.
Taika must be a huge rugby fan.
When she announced the couple were married to Heart Radio in January, the Poison hitmaker described their secret summer wedding as ‘beautiful,’ a far cry from the wedding day shown in Rita’s music video for her new single You Only Love Me.
‘Yes [I am married],’ the Hot Right Now singer said.
‘I am officially off the market, people. I chose to keep it more private and keep it to myself more but with my new video I am playing on what could have been.
‘When the rumours came out, is she, isn’t she? I wanted to play on it. I wanted to do a wedding that didn’t go to plan… that’s not to say that is actually what happened.’
Taika has some knuckle ink that spells out ‘Jane’ on his left hand, and the duo also have a lot of tattoos.
Although the filmmaker has never verified its significance, it is widely assumed to be a tribute to Natalie Portman’s Thor character Jane Porter.
