As the Glastonbury Festival 2023 came to an end, one couple decided to celebrate in style by proposing during Sir Elton John’s headline closing night act.
The British music legend took to the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm for the festival’s last two-hour gig, which was touted as his final live UK show.
Pulling song after hit from his remarkable back catalogue, including Rocketman, Your Song, Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, and I’m Still Standing, the 76-year-old described his Glastonbury performance as “special and heartfelt.”
One pair in particular would undoubtedly agree after BBC cameras captured a proposal among the enormous throng for Sir Elton’s performance.
The newly-engaged pair were spotted smiles as they hugged passionately during the singer-songwriter’s version of 1971 hit Tiny Dancer, for which he joined The Killers’ vocalist Brandon Flowers on stage for a duet.
The proposer was also seen coming to his feet after bending down on one knee in conventional form to pop the question.

His ecstatic fiancée was also spotted fingering her new engagement ring, which was still on her hand.
Viewers at home were ecstatic to watch the tender moment, with one admitting, ‘Oh god, the proposal has put me over the edge, getting a bit dusty in here #Elton #Glastonbury’.
‘Was that an audience proposal during ‘Tiny Dancer? If so, cute,’ asked another, alongside a smiling face emoji with hearts.
‘Getting Elton and Brandon Flowers to play during your proposal takes some beating tbf….,’ joked one person, adding: ‘Congrats to the happy couple.’
‘Ahh a little proposal during the set. Hope they’re very happy,’ chimed in another.
‘I’ve always said a public proposal would be my idea of hell, but in the unlikely event I ever do get proposed to, I’d be totally ok with a proposal in the hustle and bustle of a Glastonbury crowd,’ shared a different impressed fan.
Welcoming chart-topper Brandon to the stage after performances of Your Song and Candle In The Wind for their duet, Sir Elton announced: ‘My next guest I first met in 2005 when I first started playing Las Vegas, and he came to my hotel suite to play me his band’s first album Hot Fuss – we’ve been friends ever since.’
Welcoming Brandon to the stage, he said The Killers frontman was ‘the first person I thought of’ to be a guest during his set.

Some fans speculated that Britney Spears, Blue, Dua Lipa, and even actor Taron Egerton, who portrays Sir Elton in his 2019 biopic, Rocketman, might join the Cold Heart hitmaker on stage.
He did, however, surprise the audience with unexpected musical guests, putting to rest suspicions of major names and recognised partners.
Jacob Lusk of Gabriels took the stage first, followed by US artist Stephen Sanchez, who sang Sanchez’s song Until I Found You.
Rina Sawayama, a Japanese-British vocalist, sang Kiki Dee’s part in Don’t Go Breaking My Heart after Brandon.
