And Wham! isn’t the only festive song in the top five; Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You is at number two, and Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s Merry Christmas is at number three.
Brenda Lee’s 1962 song Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree reaches its highest-ever peak (four), while Bobby Helms achieves a posthumous Top 10 entry (and his first ever) with Jingle Bell Rock (seven).
It’s not all about Christmas tunes, though, as Stormzy’s Firebabe re-peaks at number five, becoming the UK’s highest-charting non-Christmas song (and the only one to appear in the Top 10 this week).
The rest of the Top 40 is dominated by Christmas songs, with Michael Bublé’s It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas peaking at number six.
Meanwhile, Lizzo achieves her third UK Top 10 hit with Amazon Music Original Someday At Christmas, which debuts at number eight.
Outside of the Top 10, we have Sia‘s Snowman at number 28, Justin Bieber’s Mistletoe at number 30, and Bing Crosby’s White Christmas at number 39.
Finally, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five re-enters the UK Top 40 for the first time in four years.
So much for a year of chart-topping hits! The question now is, who will be the first number one in 2023?
