Bruno Tonilio allegedly claimed after hitting the golden buzzer twice that he has never seen Britain’s Got Talent.
The 66-year-old former Strictly Come Dancing judge will join returning judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon for the upcoming season.
There were rumours flying around after the first day of auditions that the Italian choreographer had been ‘told off’ on set for being too severe on some of the hopefuls.
And the sources say the drama didn’t end there since Bruno hit the golden buzzer twice, therefore advancing the performance to the live show.
The new judge, however, was unaware that just a through-press of the buzzer is permitted.
The source shared: ‘It was madness. The buzzer worked but there was no glitter in the cannon above the stage as it had already been used up.’
According to the Sun, recording mogul Simon buried his face in his hands while the crowd found humour in the gaffe.
After he was formally introduced and given his new position, he expressed his gratitude by saying, “Thank you very much.” As the crowd applauded him and the judges, he said, “I am thrilled to be here.”
‘Here we are, Britain’s Got Talent,’ he said in a statement. ‘I am so excited. It’s my first show, I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I’m sure it’s going to be brilliant.’
In addition, the judge from Dancing With the Stars said he has nothing negative to say about his experience on Strictly.
Talking about his BGT gig, he told The Sun: ‘This is the biggest show on British TV, now that I’m here. I mean it. Simon is going to hate that I’ve said that but oh well.’
‘I have nothing bad to say about Strictly, it changed my life.’
It was previously speculated that Alan Carr, presenter of the comedy show Chatty Man, might be one of the judges.
Reports also suggest that talk show presenter, novelist, and Eurovision commentator Graham Norton declined an invitation to join the panel after David’s departure.
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV later this year.
