Former health secretary Matt Hancock was among a flurry of appearances on this week’s Dancing On Ice, much to the chagrin of home fans.
He was photographed watching the event with his fiancée and former staffer Gina Coladangelo, when co-host Holly Willoughby interviewed him during a stoppage between acts.
Following the departures of Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton and ex-footballer John Fashanu from the ITV skating competition, the celebrities performed dance-inspired performances in the fourth week.
‘I dance to nearly anything, it’s more passion than ability,’ Hancock said to the crowd. But a little Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen will get me moving.’
Hancock – who was in the front row of the audience along with Chuckle Brother Paul Elliott – made reference to his stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! when asked if he could be persuaded to take to the ice, adding: ‘I think I could do with dressing up a bit, but this is so hard. I mean, eating cockroaches is nothing compared to how difficult this is.’
The disgraced MP’s unexpected visit, on the other hand, failed to excite spectators.

‘Why are ITV pushing Matt Hancock as if he’s some celebrity now??? Can we not do that #DancingOnIce, tweeted one.
‘Oh great. Matt Hancock on #dancingonice. Is he a politician still or just fully in the weird transition to “celebrity”? Either way, I’d rather never have to see or hear from him again,’ added another.
Others branded the choice to interview Hancock as ‘a tragic decision’ while one viewer posted: ‘Might become that person and make my first Ofcom complaint tonight. Seeing Matt Hancock pretending to be a celebrity and ITV facilitating that, makes me actually feel quite sick #DancingOnIce’
‘Can we get a “this show may contain scenes which some viewers may find upsetting” warning when Matt Hancock is on my TV please,’ chimed in another.

Hancock finished third in the most recent series of ITV’s top reality show I’m A Celebrity, and she is slated to participate in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins later this year, in a role that was recorded first.
Cheryl Baker appeared on the rink alongside fellow members of The Fizz during Darren Harriott and Tippy Packard’s swing-inspired skate to Bucks Fizz’s single Making Your Mind Up.
Davide Sanclimenti also emerged shirtless at the conclusion of his girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcülolu’s routine, but it wasn’t enough to keep her out of the skate-off against EastEnders’ Patsy Palmer and final elimination.

Ekin-Su burst into tears upon learning of her destiny, expressing her regret after putting in so much effort throughout training.
Despite releasing her Oh Polly line and being the face of B Perfect, the 28-year-old said that Dancing On Ice was her ‘priority’.
However, anchors Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby encouraged that she be quite ‘proud’ of what she had accomplished.
Former Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson topped the podium once again this week, earning the highest score for his street style skate to Friday by Dopamine.
Performing with professional partner Olivia Smart, the couple extended their winning run, scoring a score of 34 and impressing Diversity dancer Banjo with his movements.
Dancing On Ice continues next Sunday at 6:25pm on ITV1.
