Another Game of Thrones spin-off is being considered, this time focusing on Aegon, the founder and first ruler of the Targaryen family.
While Aegon I Targaryen was never seen in the series, he was the first king to reign on the Iron Throne and was referenced throughout the seasons as well as in House of the Dragon.
Aegon, a warlord, had three powerful dragons and a tiny force when he invaded and then united six of Westeros’ Seven Kingdoms in the War of Conquest.
Following that, he founded the metropolis of King’s Landing, with Viserys, Daemon, Rhaenyra, Aerys, and Daenerys among his heirs.
HBO is reportedly considering another prequel series about the guy who founded the powerful family.
Variety reports that it will track “Aegon I Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros.”

According to the newspaper, the project is in its “very early stages,” and while no writer has been assigned, “sources say the search is underway,” and the network is “keen to move forward and get it into development.”
There is also the possibility that the idea will be developed into a feature picture, which could then lead to a potential series.
The programme would depict how Aegon and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their troops and three dragons to conquer six of Westeros’ seven kingdoms, with the exception of Dorne.
As a result, Aegon I became Westeros’ first monarch, the first to reside on the Iron Throne, and the creator of the Targaryen Dynasty.
These occurrences occurred roughly 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
While several spin-offs have been promised in the years since the initial series first aired in 2011, only House of the Dragon has moved forward so far.
The show’s second season is presently in development.
While a pilot featuring Naomi Watts was created, it was cancelled in 2019 on the same day that House of the Dragon was greenlit.
Despite the connection between her character Daenerys and House of the Dragon, which takes place 172 years before Daenerys’ birth, Emilia Clarke admitted earlier this year that she felt it would be ‘too strange’ to watch.
‘I’m so happy it’s happening. I’m over the moon about all the awards… I just can’t do it. It’s so weird. It’s so strange,’ she said.
She added it felt like someone was asking her to go to a school reunion that wasn’t her year and she was ‘avoiding it’ because of that.
Game of Thrones is available to watch on Sky and NOW.
