Meghan Markle has revealed that Beyoncé text her to tell her she was ‘selected to break generational curses that need to be healed’ following her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The 41-year-old sat down with Oprah, 68, in a tell-all interview in March 2021, with her and her husband Prince Harry’s new Netflix documentary charting the reaction to their chat.
In the final episode of Harry and Meghan, the married couple are sat working on their laptops when the Duchess of Sussex alerts her husband about the message.
‘Beyoncé just texted, just checking in’ she says as 38-year-old Harry’s comically drops his jaw and says: ‘Shut up. Just checking in, just casual.’
Meghan responds: ‘I still can’t believe she knows who I am,’ with Harry urging: ‘Go on, call her.’
‘No, it’s ok,’ Meghan says as she summarises the message the music icon sent her.

‘She said she wants me to feel safe and protected, she admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and thinks I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed,’ she reads.
Harry simply replies: ‘That’s well said,’ as the documentary cuts to more reaction to the interview from around the world.
Meghan and Queen Bey first met at the premiere of The Lion King in July 2019, but had referenced each other previously, with Idris Elba claiming the Crazy In Love hitmaker’s music was played at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

In February 2019, Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z accepted a Brit award in front of a painting of Meghan wearing a crown.
She later posted the image on Instagram, writing: ‘In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.’
Meghan was, at the time, pregnant with her first child Archie.
Beyoncé showed public support for Meghan following the Oprah interview, writing on her website in March 2021: ‘Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership. We are all strengthened and inspired by you.’
The second part of the documentary dropped online at 8am on Thursday morning, documenting the aftermath of the couple’s wedding and their decision to step back as senior royals back in 2020.
In one clip released before the documentary hit the streaming service, the Duke of Sussex is seen alleging ‘they were happy to lie to protect my brother, but never willing to tell the truth to protect us’.
A second trailer showed Meghan claim the Palace waged war against her to block stories about other royals.
Harry & Meghan is available to stream on Netflix now.
