According to reports, Netflix is investing heavily on its newest reality programme, Bear Hunt.
The competitive series will have Bear Grylls hunting celebrities in a Central American jungle, with Holly Willoughby as the presenter.
The explorer might be eyeing some major stars, given the show’s projected £10 million budget.
The streaming behemoth aims to compete with shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity. Get Me Out Of Here uses their signatures to leave an impression on viewers.
According to a TV source, the line-ups for these reality series often range from ‘little-known folks to big stars,’ but this is not Netflix’s aim.
‘Netflix are determined their collection will be largely killer, with very little filler,’ the source added to The Sun.
‘They’re not scrimping on paying six-figure fees and aren’t afraid to cough up more for the biggest names.’ Please no disgraced politicians!
‘They’ll be shelling out an eight-figure sum in all, so the cast will be one of the most expensive in reality TV history,’ it concluded. For that kind of money, we’d be up for running as far as Netflix wanted. You could call us Forrest Gump.
According to reports, only British stars will appear, but there is potential for future foreign editions.
The series will begin filming in May, but it will not be shown on television until 2025.
Holly, 43, felt horrible about the position since it required her to be away from her children, Harry (14), Belle (12), and Chester (8), with producer Dan Baldwin.
‘Holly will naturally miss her children and husband when she is away – she had lived in a lovely bubble with them while she took time off work. So it will be hard being away,’ a source said.
The insider continued to OK!: ‘Like so many mums, she feels that mum guilt as she tries to juggle family life with her TV career.’
