Richard Osman has got us on the edges of our seats waiting for The Thursday Murder Club movie to drop.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, Richard’s debut novel is being transformed into a film adaptation, but he’s been keeping the details under wraps.
Having previously joked that the likes of Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren, Dame Judy Dench and Julie Walters all have their names thrown about by fans on social media, Richard how now teased the cast.
Speaking on Friday’s Graham Norton, the former Pointless host says: ‘The scripts are done.
‘I am not allowed to say any names of actors that are in the frame but everyone we are talking to has been a guest on this sofa.’
Talking about his third novel, The Bullet That Missed, he added: ‘I kind of loved it. I’ve worked in television and have had some flops in the past so one of the nicest things is having a hit.

‘Knowing people want to read it is a joy. My mum loved it and she and her friends are now pitching ideas for murders!’
The Thursday Murder Club follows the goings-on of a group of pensioners at a retirement village who investigate unsolved crimes and quickly became a huge hit.
Earlier this year, Richard discovered that one of his ancestors actually formed an amateur detective group to solve a murder – just like in his book!

In an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? he discovered his four-times great-grandfather Gabriel Gillam’s involvement in a huge murder case back in the 1800s.
Gabriel was born in 1789 in Brighton, and headed-up solving the mystery when he stumbled upon a dead body.
Richard shared his disbelief after the revelation: ‘Given the books I write, you just couldn’t make it up!
‘It was extraordinary to discover that Gabriel Gillam formed an amateur gang of detectives. It felt like it would make a good Sunday night TV drama.’
The Graham Norton Show airs tonight, Friday December 16, at 10.40pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
