Layton Williams has been wowing the judges and audiences from week one, but he’s also giving the Strictly Come Dancing producers a problem.
After his Viennese waltz dance to the Grease soundtrack, the British singer, actor, and West End theatrical star, 29, made it through Movie Week unscathed.
With sevens all around, several home viewers believed the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie star was overshadowed and deserved higher grades.
Despite surprising us all with his fantastic dances and much more spectacular looks, Strictly producers appear to be dissatisfied with his rehearsal attire.
‘I keep getting told by the camera crew to wear more clothes,’ he said, discussing the outfits he wears to stay cool and flexible during rehearsals in the week.
‘In the training room, they’re like, “We’re seeing a lot of things”. But this is how I feel comfortable. I’ve got my jock strap on, it’s the BBC.’
Speaking to the mirror, Layton claimed that ‘everything is lovely and tight and together,’ telling the Strictly team that they need not worry.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: ‘Contestants can wear what they feel most comfortable in whilst rehearsing and in the training room.’
It was one of the greatest second week scores in Strictly history, putting them four points ahead of Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice on the scoreboard.
It was so good, in fact, that veteran Strictly pro James Jordan criticised the idea to hire a celebrity with such a strong performance experience.
After losing the dance-off against Love Island‘s Zara McDermott, radio DJ Nikita Kanda’s Strictly adventure came to an end at the end of Sunday’s results programme.
Fans have noted that Nikita’s existence last night implies that her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez’s ‘curse’ has remained.
‘The curse continues for Gorka – he’s always either one of the first out or a finalist,’ one viewer said, referencing Gorka’s 14th, 2nd, 13th, 2nd, 14th, 2nd place finishes.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
