After Simba Rwambiwa described himself as a disruptor, The Apprentice viewers couldn’t get Netflix’s Glass Onion out of their heads.
In Thursday’s premiere, 18 hopefuls were whisked away to the Caribbean island of Antigua, where the two teams created and sold tourist tours.
During the opening several minutes, senior sales executive Simba quotes the popular sequel Knives Out.
‘Simba, you say you enjoy being a disruptor, is that right?,’ asks Lord Alan Sugar.
The contestant replied: ‘I think it’s important to challenge the status quo, I think constructive disruption is very good.’
And the disruptor theme didn’t stop there, as project manager Victoria Goulbourne chose to bring dumped contestant Emma Browne back ‘for the disruption’ and Marnie Swindells was hauled into the firing line for her ‘lack of leadership’.

Following the recent release of Glass Onion – which stars Daniel Craig and Kate Hudson – fans found themselves comparing tonight’s episode to the murder mystery Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which centers around disruptors.
‘Simba has quoted #GlassOnion instantly without realising he did it at the time. Icon behaviour!’ one person wrote.
Another added: ‘Having watched Glass Onion, I swear the word “Disruptor” is following me. Now I’m watching #TheApprentice, I don’t think I’ve heard this word used so much in my life!!!!’
A third person wrote: ‘Oh god, someone calling themselves ‘A Disruptor’ in the first 5 minutes. What in the Glass Onion are we to expect.’
During tonight’s premiere, the men won the Antigua challenge, while the girls fought over which location to visit.
Emma was the first to hear those dreadful two words after finding herself in the boardroom with Victoria and Marnie.
‘I achieved the most sales,’ she claimed of her leave.
‘I was accurate in saying the beach wasn’t a good location. I brought a lot of energy to the girl’s team which I think was seen as well and highlighted. I am a very positive person, and I remained positive throughout.’
The Apprentice returns next Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
