Fans of Busted, rejoice! Charlie Simpson, winner of The Masked Singer, hinted that the band could be preparing something special to commemorate their 20th anniversary.
Can you realise it’s been two decades since the organisation was founded in August 2002?
The Essex-based pop rock band, which comprises of James Bourne, Matt Willis, and Charlie, has sold over 5 million albums and won two Brit awards.
Despite their tragic breakup in 2005, an entire generation was captivated by Busted’s music, with James and Matt creating supergroup McBusted alongside McFly before ultimately reforming with Charlie in 2016.
During Monday’s Lorraine, the ITV host, 63, asked the 37-year-old artist if they planned a huge comeback.
‘So… there may be some plans,’ Charlie said.
Consider us intrigued!
‘It is the 20 year anniversary for Busted this year,’ he added.
‘Sworn to secrecy again… but there may be some stuff in the pipeline.’
Charlie made headlines over the weekend when he was declared The Masked Singer UK champion.
Rhino was the penultimate contender to be revealed, having deceived everyone for weeks and astonished us with his talents.
Judges Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan, as well as guest judge Lee Mack, were startled when the star’s mask was removed, but rejoiced in crowning Rhino.
Charlie said that he ‘never anticipated’ to win the competition, joking that his greatest concern was forgetting his lines!
Speaking in a Q&A after the reveal, he said: ‘I never expected to win, to be honest, but I just wanted to give it my best. I had no idea who I was actually up against and didn’t really hear the other people sing as we were kept away from each other during filming.’
Charlie added: ‘I was very happy when Joel called my name. I have never been in a singing competition before so I found the whole thing quite surreal.’
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
