We may have only recently seen the Wagatha Christie trial transformed into a TV show, but it’s now being considered as the next instalment of A Very English Scandal.
Channel 4 broadcast Vardy v Rooney – The Wagatha Christie Trial last month, with the two-part drama portraying the court case between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy.
Rooney accused Vardy of leaking tales about her to the press, alleging she had set up a sting operation by restricting access to her private Instagram Articles to only the I’m A Celebrity star’s account and uploading phoney stories to smoke her out.
Vardy has always disputed the allegations and sued Rooney for libel, but the case was dismissed after it was determined that Rooney did not slander her.
That series was based on court transcripts, but it now appears that the BBC is working on another version.
Deadline is reporting that a series is in the ‘early stage development as the potential third instalment of the hit series’.

Rose Lewenstein, who penned the adaptation of The Flatshare, is also on board, according to the publication.
While the series has yet to be named, it is one of a “lot of stories being considered” and may not be approved just yet.
It’s been two years since the second season of A Very British Scandal, which starred Paul Bettany and Claire Foy as the Duke and Duchess of Argyll.
That instalment described the uproar surrounding their divorce lawsuit in 1953, which included allegations of adultery, forgery, theft, violence, drug usage, and bribes.
Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw starred in the first season, A Very English Scandal, which premiered in 2018.
That summed up the Jeremy Thorpe controversy of 1976-1979, in which the Liberal MP planned for the murder of his former lover Norman Scott.
A Very English Scandal is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
