Not only did David Hawcock’s proposal on Dragons’ Den wow viewers at home, but it also impressed all five investors.
Touker Suleyman and Peter Jones were successful in bargaining for a share of his firm, whereas Steven Bartlett and Sara Davies had their proposals rejected, and Deborah Meaden had already passed.
The aspiring entrepreneur presented his ideas, which included a chess board made out of paper, to the judges in the hopes that they would provide funding for his new firm.
David, after being lauded for his expertise, stated that the pop-up chess set can be opened and closed in any configuration, and that its “unique” construction makes it “impossible to upset the pieces.”
The artisan kept up his pitch by praising the product’s eco-friendliness, saying it was made without plastic and was “totally recyclable.”
David’s anxieties almost got in the way, but he managed to win over two of the Dragons, and his product was praised by hundreds of people at home.

And if you’re looking to buy his games for yourself, here’s how.
Two of the games David proposed on the episode, Pop-Up Chess and Pop-Up Row of Four, may be found on his website, Infinite Jest.
They may be purchased separately for £16.99 each, or as part of a special Dragons’ Den package for £29.99.

A note introducing the games reads: ‘Following a rollercoaster launch on the BBC show Dragons’ Den in January 2023 Infinite Jest presents the first Pop-Up Games titles.
Cards and other works of art with David’s pop-up design idea may also be found on his website.
Fans on Twitter were absolutely loving the pop-up set, with one calling it: ‘This pop-up chess set is possibly the best invention I’ve seen on #DragonsDen even if the business owner is nervous as hell. I really hope someone invests.’
‘Very clever man is Mr Pop-Up,’ a viewer remarked, while another added: ‘The paper pop up games are stunning!’
Dragons’ Den airs on Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One.
