WWE teased The Fiend’s return with a cleverly placed QR code on SmackDown.
A QR code flashed up on screen moments before Bray Wyatt came out to address fans on Friday night’s programme, reminiscent of the White Rabbit path up to Bray’s historic comeback at Extreme Rules in October 2022.
This time, the code took you to a video of Bray at the Firefly Fun House, happily saying, ‘See you in hell!’
As WWE continues to tease Bray embracing his history, his demeanour shifted instantaneously as he said ‘Let me in,’ before morphing into The Fiend himself.
On SmackDown, he did just that, appearing in front of the audience in his old rocking chair and using his ‘We’re here’ catchphrase, a tribute to his days as the leader of the Wyatt Family.
‘Ain’t it wild how sometimes we forget who we are? We forget what it is that made us in the first place,’ he said, giggling manically. ‘All it takes it a little push to come along and send you in the right direction and all of a sudden you understand all you had to do all along is revel in what you are.’
Bray told supporters that it has returned to him and that he remembers what he has lost, identifying himself as the colour red in an universe of black and white, the Easter of Worlds, Uncle Howdy, ‘Him,’ and ‘everything’.
‘I am Bray Wyatt,’ he shouted. ‘I know who I am, but who are you? At the Royal Rumble it will be my true rebirth, a baptism in the dark. And as for you, LA Knight. Know this son. When the lights go out you should… run!’
Bray’s previous Wyatt Family graphic appeared on the screen, mixed in with his current iconography, as the former world champion continued his spiral into insanity.
What this means for the short future is unknown, but all eyes will be on the Royal Rumble in April 2021, when Bray participates in his first bout since WrestleMania 38.
He’ll meet recent opponent LA Knight in the first-ever Pitch Black match, with WWE still keeping the details under wraps.
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
