Zendaya has allegedly signed a multi-million dollar agreement to earn $1 million every episode of Euphoria’s third season.
The 26-year-old actress rose to prominence after assuming the role of Rue Bennett, an adolescent dealing with drug addiction and anxiety while attending high school.
Despite the fact that the HBO blockbuster hit is the work of an ensemble, the Emmy winner narrates the programme and has been a series standout.
Zendaya was expected to receive a hefty raise ahead of the show’s third season after winning multiple honours for her performance.
According to Matthew Belloni of Puck, she will earn roughly $1 million every episode.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya’s co-star Sydney Sweeney revealed she was disappointed with the amount of payment for performers.
She told the publication in July 2022: ‘They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals.
‘The established stars still get paid, but I have to give five percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, three percent or something like that to my business manager.
‘I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.’
The star’s compensation, which are expected to be the highest in the high school drama, have apparently been settled lately, having ‘just closed a significant re-negotiation’.
The salaries of the remainder of the Euphoria main cast members are unknown.
Zendaya was not the first celebrity to be offered a large sum of money during filming, as she followed in the footsteps of TV stars who were already receiving large sums of money.
Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, Paramount+’s Yellowstone spinoff 1923, and Disney Plus’s Dopesick are all paying millions of dollars for prominent actors to star in their shows.
Highest paid TV stars per episode right now…
- John Krasinski / Jack Ryan – $2m
- Kevin Costner / Yellowstone – $1.2m
- Michael Keaton / Dopesick – $1m
- Elisabeth Moss / Shining Girls – $1m
- Jason Sudeikis / Ted Lasso – $1m
- Harrison Ford / 1923 – $1m
- Helen Mirren / 1923 – $1m
- Chris Pratt / The Terminal List – $1m
Nevertheless, Matthew also remarked that, in the present climate, the majority of programmes and networks are attempting to rein down star compensation, and revealed he knew of one ‘dealmaker’ who claimed that ‘$850,000 is the new $1 million.’
