Last month, Kanye’s present to his wife for her 40th birthday gained international attention, as the rapper organised a hologram video of Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003.
In a new vlog, Kim’s emotional reaction to the hi-tech gift is laid bare, with the star sobbing over the digital reincarnation of her late dad.
The mum-of-four shared the moment she watched the video with her mum Kris Jenner and sisters Khloe and Kourtney, as the hologram of Kardashian, who died aged 59 from cancer, told Kim how proud he was of her.
Kim was seen in tears on the phone with Kanye, 43, and said: ‘Thank you for this. Seriously, thank you. I can’t wait to watch it again.’
Her sisters were also seen wiping tears from their eyes; it didn’t appear that her brother Rob, Robert and Kris’s son, was at the viewing.
Kim had previously shared the full hologram video, in which Kardashian made jokes with his daughter and called his son-in-law, who he never met, ‘the most, most, most, most, most genius man in the whole world’.
She tweeted at the time: ‘For my birthday Kanye got me the most thoughtful gift of a lifetime. A special surprise from heaven. A hologram of my dad.
‘It’s so lifelike! We watched it over and over, filled with emotion.’
The reality star has received a lot of flak over her lavish 40th birthday party, which involved her flying friends and family to private island Tetiaroa, after getting tests for Covid-19.
But Kim clearly didn’t care about attracting more controversy, as she showcased all of the dream activities she got to enjoy in paradise.
Her six-minute vlog opened with Kim chilling with her friends bedside the sea, before they went swimming with humpback whales.
Kim then enjoyed drinks with her friends as they danced on the beach to Daft Punk – not a live show, although we wouldn’t be surprised at this point – with a DJ booth set up on the sand.
The trip ended with one of Kanye’s signature Sunday Services, with a choir serenading Kim with a verse of happy birthday.
Shortly after Kim’s trip to Tetiaroa, her younger sister Kendall Jenner also came under fire for her own combined birthday and Halloween party, with mask-wearing staff looking uncomfortable around the guests, who were not wearing masks or social distancing.
It seems the Kardashian party controversy isn’t over for 2020, though, as the famous family have another signature bash to throw before the year is out.
Khloe confirmed that the annual Kardashian Christmas Eve party would be going ahead despute the pandemic, after a fan tweeted: ‘OMG I just realised… is the Kardash/Jenner Christmas party getting cancelled this year?’
The 36-year-old responded: ‘It will just have to be small and safe. Maybe do rapid testing before. We have to think of what is safest.’
