Zoe Ball heartbroken as beloved cat dies after being hit by car

Zoe Ball has shared the sad news her beloved cat Monkey has died, after he was hit and killed by a car.

The BBC Radio 2 Breakfast DJ uploaded a sweet image of the ginger cat to Instagram over the weekend, with her son Woody – who starred in The Circle – shedding more light on the incident that happened on Friday evening.

Zoe wrote: ‘Our beautiful cat Monkey has gone to monkey heaven. ?

‘He was a great adventurer, so chatty, full of love & always up for a fireside cuddle. We are heartbroken.’

The star thanked the kind people who found Monkey following the incident, who then called her.

She added: ‘Rest well you magic ginger bundle.’

In the lovely image, a resplendant Monkey was sitting on a rock wall, basking in the sunlight.

Zoe’s son Woody, who she shares with ex Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim, also shared a series of photos of the adored family pet.

He wrote: ‘Sad News. Monkey my lovely partner in crime was hit by a car last night 🙁

‘He is no longer with us – a tragic accident took him too soon at not even 3 years old.

‘I hope he’s climbing trees somewhere else now.’

The pair were met with support from their followers, with famous pals chiming in to share their heartbreak at the death of little Monkey.

Daisy Lowe wrote: ‘Sending you allll the love and cuddles so sorry for your loss ♥️♥️♥️’

She was joined by Caroline Quentin who added: ‘So sad for you and your family my dear x’

Another follower commented on Woody’s sweet post: ‘That is so sad. Plenty of mischief to be had in cat heaven.’

Zoe adopted the feline, as well as another cat, Wilbur, from Raystede Cattery in Sussex, and it’s reported she named the cat Monkey for his cheeky personality after he was originally given the name Winston.
