My Celebrity Life

Your Horoscope This Week: July 18, 2021

On the heels of the Sun in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn, we enter the week of the 18th through 24th shadowed by the wisdom of opposites. This means we’ve been called to examine what makes us who we are as compared to what we work not to be — indeed, what we mean to dismantle within us or disavow in others. The 18th ushers in three in-conjunct aspects like small waves of inquiry: Venus in Leo quincunx Pluto in Capricorn, Mercury in Cancer quincunx Saturn in Aquarius, and Mars in Leo quincunx Neptune in Pisces. Not oppositions exactly, but conflicting impulses. Requisition is up against surrender; this means that the pleasure of expression and of giving something form is up against the very nature of life: decomposition.

Venus moves in Virgo before the next major opposition of the week: Venus in Virgo opposing Jupiter in Pisces. This opposition holds the thread of devotion at both ends. Venus in Virgo’s dedication is to collection, to the small things that make a life; meanwhile, Jupiter in Pisces demonstrates devotion to the big waves, to surrender. This opposition is followed by two more in-conjunct aspects, Mars in Leo quincunx Pluto in Capricorn and Sun in Leo quincunx Jupiter in Pisces. These inquiries echo the themes of the opposition before them, challenging us to hold what we imagine as our due — our flowers — up against a crestfallen world, in which we’re trapped in cycles of recovery.

On the 23rd, we arrive at the shore and are greeted by the full moon in Aquarius. The energy of waves, of wind, holds the night sky toward the days of fire, of Leo. Like all opposites, these two signs need each other. Positive and negative space, what’s within us and without us. At the gate of Leo season, Aquarius — represented by The Star in the Tarot — invites us to hold what burns above us and burns within us with equal reverence. When a trine occurs between Mercury in Cancer and Neptune in Pisces on the following day, after a week of holding and tension, the release is sure to be palpable.

Aries Sun & Aries RisingPerhaps you’ve been waiting on a signal — a green light, a go-ahead. Perhaps you’ve skipped the signs and rammed ahead anyway, pointing your horns and trying to get it while you can. Mars in Leo is certainly a potent transit and all the potentiality can start to bottleneck when there’s traffic in the distance. When your ruling planet makes quincunx aspects to Neptune and Pluto, you might find that your best-laid plans and most promising pitches only go so far. If what you are pushing for just won’t gain momentum, if willpower and confidence don’t do the trick, faith and patience will have to do.Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Taurus Sun & Taurus RisingIt can be hard to separate ourselves from our environment and  distinguish the changes within us from a rapidly changing world. But you, dear Taurus, aren’t afraid of a little hard work. This week, try to notice the tensions that rise up within and around your value systems. Are there moments when you find yourself in service to value systems that feel inconsistent with your current relationship to the world? What is the origin story of the inconsistent values? Note the person who you were when they first took root inside you. What new information does that person need to meet you where you are now? Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Gemini Sun & Gemini RisingThe word “boundaries” is as common as a window-screen these days, and everywhere you look you’re likely to find someone who has an opinion on the state of someone else’s. Despite all that, good boundaries are hard to build and harder still to maintain. Our limits and our needs change as we change. To nurture them, to update them, is to continually work to know ourselves. And there can be risk in that; there can be edge-play; there can be a new drawing of lines. If you were to articulate your boundaries as they are now — in reality and not as you wish they could be — what would you say? Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Cancer Sun & Cancer RisingThere’s a righteous energy in the air following Saturday’s quarter moon in Libra, but the road to our full moon in Aquarius this coming Friday isn’t exactly a straight shot. Your understanding of what you need to feel secure might change, but clarity doesn’t always lead to good communication. If articulating your needs proves difficult, try to imagine the distance and flow between balance-seeking Libra and network-building Aquarius. Our personal relationships feed into our collective position. Is there an agreement with yourself in service to your security and toward the connections you dream of making? Leo Sun & Leo RisingThe day after the Sun slides into Leo, we witness a full moon in Aquarius. The Leo and Aquarius opposition has been described as the axis of ego, of love given/received, of the individual and the group. While it can be tempting to make assignments, the versatility of both signs won’t let those assignments stick. Leos are, after all, pride animals, and invested in the health of their group. They love attention but their big hearts shine with generous affection. Can the wisdom of this opposition lead you toward a new self-understanding? Can you recognise when you define yourself against something else? And, in doing so, make what you are not integral to who you are? Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Virgo Sun & Virgo RisingMercury’s transit through Cancer might have you in your feelings this week — especially feelings directly resulting from any ongoing frustration. Specifically, Mercury’s quincunx to Saturn can indicate miscommunication around expectations. Being clear and candid about your expectations is tough, especially for a sign that prides itself on anticipating the needs of others. But, the more you let others in on your agenda, the more likely they are to share theirs with you, and the clearer you can get on what’s not working. The conversations that you’re the most anxious to have are the ones most likely to grant you peace. Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Libra Sun & Libra RisingThe energetic first quarter moon in Libra on the 17th mixes your cardinal drive with a desire for harmony. But, harmony can be a tricky thing to drive toward because it shifts, and requires resistance and flexibility. These are good things to remember as you negotiate how and what you wish to express to others, especially people you consider part of your chosen family. To harmonise shouldn’t mean shrouding the uniqueness of your own voice and what it brings to the song. Mind the moments when you diminish your own contribution. Does it produce anger in you? Where does that anger go? Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Scorpio Sun & Scorpio RisingYour ruling planet, Mars, makes a quincunx aspect to both Neptune and Pluto this week, so it’s likely that you’ll find yourself in a quagmire or two. Whether it’s physical or psychological or circumstantial limitation, it can be hard to overcome by sheer willpower and positive thinking. Here, it would be worth your time to reimagine your limitations as teachers that teach you to redirect your energy. They ask you to reconsider your route and adapt. The more creative you are about reimagining your limits, the more likely you are to find a solution that doesn’t just work — it changes your outlook entirely. Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Sagittarius Sun & Sagittarius RisingWhile Jupiter retrogrades, retracing his steps through Pisces and toward Aquarian territory, certain explorations will prove difficult to plan and, certainly, to navigate based on logistics alone. There’s a tension here between what you feel is happening and what “should” happen, given the information at hand. The full Moon in Aquarius invites you to trust your intuition. Rather than letting it fuel your judgments or suspicions, place it in the context of what you know about people, their missteps, and their beliefs. This is a potent week for a private ritual and developing stronger alliances with those you respect. Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Capricorn Sun & Capricorn RisingWith the Aquarius full moon lighting up your house of security and resources, a house that is already populated by Saturn, you might find yourself facing some tough truths about your relationship with finances. The moon’s opposition to the Sun in Leo in your house of debt and transformation only underscores the issue. This week is a powerful time to think about how you define what belongs to others and what belongs to you. Do you limit what you give away? Do you permit reciprocity from others? Let this be a meditation on receiving, and a step toward interdependence and away from self-sacrifice. Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Aquarius Sun & Aquarius RisingCarving out space for yourself in relation to others can feel like scooping at a muddy shore. You dig deep, you settle — then the waves come and reshape the hole. Sometimes you feel constricted, sometimes you get dragged. Apparently, there’s an impulse within humans to share our lives with others and to make room where room wasn’t — even if our attempts aren’t always successful. The days leading up to the Aquarius full moon might have you questioning your commitment to that impulse, and wondering if you’re better off alone on a rock somewhere. It’s important that you choose your position out of desire, not resignation. Do you long for the rock? Or the challenge of the dig? Illustration by Stefhany Lozano

Pisces Sun & Pisces RisingTo describe this week’s cosmic weather like a forecast for Pisces placements, one might pull up a map and plaster it with as many weather stickers as they had on hand. The good news is, good things are coming. The bad news is, it can be hard for most humans to weather setbacks that ultimately lead to good things. But, you are no stranger to riding the waves, dear Pisces, so why not embrace the challenge? Listen to your intuition when things don’t feel right and attend to what’s within your control. Focus on signs of success that align with your value, let them lead you to steady connections. Illustration by Stefhany Lozano
