This weekend, Catherine Tate will play a crucial part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
The comedian will announce who receives our points.
‘It’s extremely wonderful to be announcing the legendary “douze points” at Eurovision,’ she remarked of the accolade.
‘It’s really just a foot in the door because I aim to be the UK entrant next year,’ she laughed.
It’s also extremely significant for the 53-year-old since, for the first time, the UK spokesperson will reveal the National Jury scores live from the same stadium where the real competition is taking place in the UK.
Catherine will be on the M&S arena with the other competitors, including UK participant Mae Muller.

Previously entrusted celebrities include AJ Odudu, Amanda Holden, Nigella Lawson, Mel Giedroyc, Richard Osman, Alex Jones, Cheryl Baker, Katrina Leskanich from Katrina & The Waves, and Lorraine Kelly.
It’s not her only BBC gig this year; she’ll be returning her role as Donna in Doctor Who later this year as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations. She will also appear in the upcoming comedic series Queen of Oz.
The second Eurovision semi-final is due to air on Thursday at 8pm and the final airs on Saturday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
