According to recent reports, Joel Dommett will be participating in the forthcoming Survivor remake as a host.
A recent source says that The Masked Singer presenter Joel has been chosen to front the new project for the BBC. The reality TV survival programme will return to the small screen over two decades after the original series was cancelled.
A source told The Sun: ‘He was offered the job just before Christmas and accepted almost immediately. It is his first BBC primetime role and is a huge leap for him…
‘Joel was a massive fan of the original series and made that clear when approached. He really impressed with his passion, and work on The Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer.’
The insider added: ‘The BBC feel Survivor is going to be massive, and having Joel is the cherry on the cake.’
Survivor, a Banijay format created by Charlie Parsons, is one of the most watched reality entertainment formats around the world and is celebrating 25 years this year after the format was first employed in 1997 in Sweden.

The first season of the original British version of the show was hosted by newsreader Mark Austin, and the second season was helmed by cricket commentator Mark Nicholas. The original British version of the show lasted for two series from 2001 through 2002.
It is anticipated that Survivor will return to television screens the following year, and applications for potential players will be accepted up until February.
Kate Phillips, Director of Unscripted at the BBC, previously said of the project: ‘Survivor is a global television hit and to be able to bring one of TV’s most successful formats to audiences in the UK in a uniquely BBC way is a very exciting prospect indeed.’
Natalka Znak, CEO Remarkable Entertainment adds that ‘Survivor is the greatest gameshow on Earth for a reason’: ‘It has everything – reality, adventure, drama, and the ultimate game. I can’t wait to be boots on the ground, working with Paul Osborne, Stephen Lovelock and the fantastic team at Remarkable to make this epic series for the BBC.’
The show is shot on a deserted island, and the contestants are left to fend for themselves while simultaneously competing in mental and physical tasks in order to see who will emerge victorious.
Despite the fact that it was only shown for a total of two seasons in the United Kingdom, the format was a big success everywhere else in the world, and the 43rd season of the American version is scheduled to air later this year.
