The actor was there to talk about the dark storyline surrounding David and Meena Jutla’s (Paige Sandhu), which will see one of the members of the cast meet a sticky end this week.
In her desperation to have David all to herself, Meena has taken things in a dark direction. She’s also been threatening Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) following her discovery that Leanna (Mimi Slinger) is planning on going travelling.
While Matthew originally promised he wouldn’t be revealing the truth about his character’s fate on This Morning, he appeared to inadvertently reveal that his character had in fact survived this week.
At first, Matthew kept his cards close to his chest by saying: ‘No-one is safe. We’ve all got to be on our best behaviour.’
Addressing concerns from fans about his character, Matthew said: ‘I’m glad they’re worried. Me too. I can’t tell you who it’s going to be.’

‘Everyone seems to like David. That’s a good thing. Maybe I won’t get killed off, but we’ll see,’ he continued.
He went on to address a double murder plot theory which has been circulating on social media, saying: ‘I like that idea. I don’t think it will happen. The problem with murdering on a soap is you’re never going to last very long on there.
‘You can’t be a serial killer or a serial killer’s right hand man without there being a sticky end. So I’m hoping that’s not going to happen,’ he added.
Picking up on his answer, Phillip thought he’d busted him by saying: ‘He’s not dead! You fell into that hole, not us.’
Laughing, the actor seemed to acknowledge the cat was out the bag. ‘I’m sorry Emmerdale press team, I tried!’ he said.
So, while we can be fairly sure Matthew won’t be meeting a tragic end this week after this, there’s still a lot to look out for on Emmerdale.
Viewers know Meena is set to murder in upcoming episodes, but who will it be?
