Mawaan Rizwan has proved himself to be quite the dedicated Taskmaster hopeful… it’s just too bad he doesn’t read the rules properly.

In a first look clip of tonight’s episode, Mawaan is back up against Daisy May Cooper, Katherine Parkinson, Johnny Vegas and Richard Herring.

Unfortunately, Mawaan finds himself ever-so-slightly disqualified after missing the point of the task.

Placed in a dinghy and given some oars in a warehouse, the five are told they need to get some exercise balls in hula hoops around the floor – without leaving the dinghy or moving the hoops.

Key bit there: Don’t move the hoops.

Mawaan immediately started scrambling like a fish out of water to try and move his dinghy about, quickly ditching the oars and instead pushing himself along with his hands.

While he first made a valiant effort trying to get all the giant balls in his dinghy at the same time, Mawaan thought he’d cracked it after scrambling around on the floor… by just moving the hoops to the balls.

We can then only look with our head in our hands as he completely messes up, thinking he’s smashed the task when in fact he’d completely failed it.

The Two Weeks To Live actor didn’t even realise his error until weeks later, when Greg Davies broke the news to him in the studio as they re-aired the clip.

Immediately knowing what he did wrong, Mawaan just had to sit there as his fail was played out to the rest of the Taskmaster cast, muttering a simple ‘s**t’ once it was all over.

How the other four hopefuls get on will be aired tonight in the second episode of the slapstick comedy favourite, which has moved over to Channel 4 after an impressive nine season run on Dave.

Let’s just hope he does better in an escape room group challenge, otherwise he may still be stuck in there…

Taskmaster continues Thursdays at 9pm on Channel 4.
