The Witcher season 2: Henry Cavill shares first-look footage teasing Ciri’s storyline

Henry Cavill has shared a first look at footage from The Witcher season 2, teasing the dramatic storyline of princess Ciri (Freya Allan) in the Netflix series.

The Witcher, which premiered in December 2019, follows Geralt of Rivia (Henry), a monster hunter known as a ‘Witcher’.

In the first season, Geralt’s destiny becomes intertwined with Princess Cirilla, otherwise known as Ciri, having been linked to the royal since her birth.

The second instalment of the epic fantasy will see Geralt escort the magically-powered Ciri to safety at his childhood home of Kaer Morhen, thus providing viewers with further insight into his past, when he was transformed into an enhanced weapon.

The Justice League star shared a teaser of the upcoming season on social media, with a series of quick clips hinting at Ciri’s journey, with the caption: ‘Just a glimpse of Freya Allan’s exceptional work in Season 2.’

At one point, Ciri can be heard saying: ‘I need to understand,’ while another voiceover features her shouting: ‘No! Geralt’ after being warned of ‘danger’.

‘EXCUSE ME??!! I wasn’t ready for this! But thank you!’ another fan exclaimed.

Several Instagram users said that while they were delighted over the clip, they wanted to see some footage of Henry in action.

‘Hoping glimpse of Geralt will be coming soon. Please say it is coming… Please,’ one pleaded.

‘May Geralt come soon! I already have my popcorn,’ another wrote.

Earlier this year, Henry teased fans with a cryptic social media post, featuring a photograph showing him holding some sheets of paper while reflected in a mirror.

‘Secret project? Or just a handful of paper with random words on it…. Guess you’ll have to wait and see. Happy hump day all,’ he wrote in the caption, prompting numerous people to speculate that this ‘secret project’ was Witcher-related.

While The Witcher season two doesn’t have a release date yet, it’s expected to be coming out at some point near the end of 2021.

The Witcher season one is available to watch on Netflix.
