Anitta has opened up about accepting her body and why she refuses to hide her cellulite in a candid new interview.
The Brazilian singer has revealed that cellulite is ‘something that I have more than oxygen inside me’, but it’s not going to stop her from living her life.
Speaking to Glamour Magazine for their Self-Love issue, she explained: ‘I have cellulite more than anything else in my body. There’s no such treatment that can change this reality.
‘I can do diets, which I hate, I can work out, which I also hate. So I’m not going to have a life that I don’t like just to take all my cellulite.
‘I prefer to live with that, to accept it and say, “OK, if you don’t like it, it’s your problem.”’
She added: ‘I’m not going to take this problem to me. I don’t hide it. I don’t feel like, “Oh my God, let me hide my cellulite”. I just put it in the music video, if people like, fine. If they don’t, fine too.’
The 27-year-old also stressed the importance of practicing self-love, and that everyone should feel comfortable the way they already are.
She continued: ‘I think people should look in the mirror and believe that they are perfect just the way they are, without comparisons, because there is no one like anyone.
‘And the most important thing is to love themselves and respect others.’
Anitta – real name Larissa de Macedo Machado – rose to fame in her native Brazil following the release of her single Meiga E Abusada in 2012, which led to her singing a contract with Warner Music Brasil the following year.
In 2013, she released her self-titled debut album, which sold 170,000 copies and later received a triple gold record certificate.
She has since seen her career go from strength to strength, as she begun to achieve success on an international scale, collaborating with artists such as Madonna, Iggy Azalea and Cardi B. In June 2020, she signed a recording contract with Warner Records in the US.
Anitta is set to release her fifth studio album – which will feature songs in English, Spanish and Portuguese – later this year.
