Ashley Cain has detailed the extent of his grief following the death of his baby daughter Azaylia, stating that his ‘heart is shattered’.
Azaylia died on Saturday aged just eight months after battling a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia since she was a newborn.
On Monday, former Ex On The Beach star Ashley shared a photo of him holding the tot’s hand with a lengthy post paying tribute.
‘My heart is shattered ?,’ he began.
‘You gave my life purpose, my face a smile, filled my heart with love and my soul with pride.
‘I can’t put into words my sadness and pain, there aren’t words to describe it. I love you with every ounce of my body and I miss you so much already.’
Ashley, 30, went on to describe how Azaylia made him a ‘better man’ and the person he’s ‘always wanted to be’.
‘You’ve taught me more in your 8 months than I’ve learned my whole life,’ he said.
The former footballer continued: ‘I don’t know why you’ve been taken away from me and my heart aches in your absence.
‘But I promise you that your name with live on. I will carry your name across every ocean, along every road, to the top of every mountain and across the whole globe.
‘Your name will live, your legacy will be remembered and I will seek peace in living as your vessel to continue inspiring, giving strength, spreading joy and saving lives in your name, with your spirit, as your father until we meet again.
‘You saved my life, you really did. With my second chance, I make a promise to you that I will make yours live on in our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers.’
The heartfelt post concluded: ‘I am blessed, I am honoured and I am privileged to be your father. I would go through all of the pain again and again. Because what you gave me in those 8 months will live with me for eternity.’

He then added the lyrics from I Wanna Be Like You from The Jungle Book, one of Azaylia’s favourite songs.
Azaylia’s mum Safiyya had previously posted pictures of herself cradling Azaylia and said: ‘You are my Angel my heartbeat my soul, RIP my precious baby, you will always be with me like a handprint on my heart.’
Azaylia had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) when she was just eight weeks old in October.
She had gone through several rounds of chemotherapy and other treatment, including a bone marrow transplant however, the leukaemia returned.
The family were offered a glimmer of hope last month when doctors said she may be able to receive specialist treatment in Singapore. This then prompted Ashley and Safiyya to launch a GoFundMe page aiming to raise £1million for the healthcare.
Despite raising the money in less than 24 hours, the disease advanced to other areas in Azaylia’s body and doctors said there were no options left.
Ashley and Safiyya brought their daughter home from hospital so she could be comfortable, but they had to readmit her several times due to various issues, including a problem with her feeding tube and requiring blood platelet transfusions.
On Friday, the palliative care team told the couple to ‘enjoy the weekend’ with her as her body was slowly shutting down.
