Beyonce’s foundation providing financial relief for US residents affected by winter storms

Beyonce is doing her part to help the Texas residents who are struggling amid the deadly winter storms.

The singer’s foundation, BeyGOOD, and Adidas have teamed up with Houston’s Bread of Life to help provide financial relief grants of up to $1,000 (around £715).

A statement on the organization’s Twitter page read: ‘BeyGOOD and Adidas are working with Bread of Life to bring urgent relief to those suffering as a result of the winter storms.’

It added that people in ‘Texas, or any state affected by these storms, you can apply for assistance’.

Millions of Americans have been without power for days following the storms, while other states have also been affected by the severe weather.

Citizens are facing water shortages after the storm caused pipes to burst and treatment plants to back up, disrupting services and contaminating supplies.

State officials have ordered seven million people to boil tap water before drinking it following days of record low temperatures, with Sunday seeing thermometers drop to lows of 0F (-18C) in Texas.

At least 21 people have lost their lives to the storm, with weather-related fatalities also recorded in Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, and Louisiana.

BeyGOOD has previously provided support to help with the US coronavirus relief effort.

The foundation has also backed the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria against a controversial police unit which has been blamed for widespread abuses, including torture and killings.
