Can we just take a moment to look at these pictures of Jane Fonda, 83, in Harper’s Bazaar

We all know that Jane Fonda is an icon – from her Oscar-winning performances, to her workout empire, to getting arrested on Capitol Hill five times in her fight against climate change.

But never forget that she also knows how to work a camera.

The 83-year-old has posed for a stunning new shoot with Harper’s Bazaar, and we may just need to frame each and every shot.

On the cover of the magazine’s reinvention issue, Fonda rocks a long-sleeved, black, fully sequinned gown by Ralph Lauren, paired with mod-style silver cropped hair.

Other images, shot by Mario Sorrenti, show the Klute star reclining on a couch in black sequins by Valentino, and striking a pose in a Mugler Archives jacket that Kim Kardashian would be jealous of.

And another reminder – she is 83 years old. Bow down.

The black and white shoot is accompanied by an interview between Fonda and Durga Chew-Bose, in which the Grace and Frankie star discussed everything from holding President Joe Biden accountable to television acting to working with Katharine Hepburn.

She also discussed romantic relationships and said that she no longer wants to have a sexual relationship again.

Fonda said: ‘One of the painful things that I’ve realised by 80—I don’t even know how old I am—83, and single now. What I’ve had to really think about is that I’m not really capable [of intimacy]. It’s not them. It’s me.

‘I don’t want to be in a relationship, a sexual relationship, again. I don’t have that desire. Do I fantasise? Yes, here’s my fantasy. I’ll just put it out there. That I meet a professor or a researcher, somebody in that line who is really capable of loving, of cherishing a woman, so that I could test myself and see if I could show up.

‘I think maybe now I could, but the problem is that, like a man, I would want a younger man. Isn’t that awful? It’s a thing about skin. I would want a younger man, and I’m too vain.’

The actress added: ‘I’m very grateful that I don’t have to get naked in front of anybody again ever, even in candlelight. And if I did, I mean in my fantasy, the man is younger than me, so that would make it even harder.’

The two-time Oscar winner has been married three times before – to screenwriter Roger Vadim from 1965 until 1973, to activist Tom Hayden from 1973 until 1990, and to media mogul Ted Turner from 1991 until 2001.

The mother-of-three also dated record producer Richard Perry from 2009 until 2017.

As well as continuing her Fire Drill Fridays online to lobby for climate change legislation, Fonda is filming the seventh and final season of Grace and Frankie with Lily Tomlin.

The Netflix comedy series follows two women who become unlikely friends after their husbands leave their wives for each other.

Fonda’s role of Grace has seen her nominated an Emmy and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Fonda’s full interview is available to read in Harper’s Bazaar.
