Chrissy Teigen was among the celebrities reacting to news Donald Trump has become the first US president to be impeached twice.

On Wednesday, news broke that Trump had been impeached again, with 10 representatives from his own Republican party voting to impeach him, following deadly riots at the US Capitol building that later saw Trump accused of ‘inciting violence’.

Impeachment means the president’s powers have been suspended for the last few days he in his office until new president elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Stars came out in force on Twitter following the news, with model Chrissy – who has never been shy when it comes to voicing her opinions of Trump – teasing that she thought being impeached was like ‘dying’.

She told her followers: ‘I didn’t even know you could be impeached twice. I thought it was like dying.’

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill – famed for playing Luke Skywalker – tweeted a picture of Trump pulling a face and posted alongside it: ‘When one impeachment won’t suffice, Damn his new crimes- impeach him twice! #DarnOldDonald’

James Gunn, who is directing the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, shared a string of tweets rejoicing in the move that read: ‘Trump has also been impeached two more times than he has ever been a billionaire.

‘Trump has, in fact, been impeached, two more times than he has ever won the popular vote in any election.

‘Trump has once again been impeached. Are we sick of winning yet?’

Rapper Cardi B, meanwhile, seemed pretty smug that once again her prediction had rung true, with fans calling her a ‘fortune teller’ as she shared a video of her laughing to herself.

He wrote: ‘The importance of 10 GOP House members voting to impeach is this: It shows that it’s not about politics, it’s about courage. The truth is there, for those with guts enough to say it and mean it. To the ten with those guts, your country salutes you.’

TV host Padma Lakshmi tweeted a GIF of her celebrating, while Hocus Pocus star Bette Midler simply posted: ‘IMPEACHED AGAIN!’

Trump will now face trial in the US Senate, but proceedings won’t start until at least an hour after Joe Biden is inaugurated next Wednesday on January 20.

If convicted, Trump could be banned from running for president again after he leaves the White House and he would lose some perks that come with being an ex-president.

Trump was previously impeached in 2019, but he was acquitted at his trial in February 2020. An impeachment conviction differs from a criminal conviction and doesn’t result in judicial punishment.
