The I Say A Little Prayer singer gave everyone a chuckle over the weekend when she mocked the musicians over the use of ‘The’ in their names.
Despite having to convince everyone that she actually wrote the posts herself, it turns out the 80-year-old tweets have led to an almighty collaboration, and we’re seriously ready.
Shortly after it was revealed that Dionne and Chance – real name Chancelor Bennett – had united for a new single, for the Hunger Not Impossible initiative, it was announced the Wasted Times star had also joined in the fun.
Confirming the news in a video on Twitter, she said: ‘Hey everybody, I’m so excited, I can’t tell you… I can’t contain myself.
‘The Weeknd has agreed to join Chance The Rapper and I on our song, Nothing’s Impossible.’
‘I’m still on a mission to end foolishness by 2021,’ she captioned the video. ‘It looks like @theweeknd and @chancetherapper are joining me.
‘Who’s next? (I edited this video myself)’
The line forms behind us, just FYI.
The whole thing came about after Dionne reached out to Chance with a question that has been on all our minds.
She penned: ‘Hi, @chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name?
‘I cannot stop thinking about this.’
She also quipped: ‘I am now Dionne the Singer.’
Chance was blown away by the shoutout, replying: ‘Sorry I’m still freaking out that u know who I am. This is amazing!
‘I will be whatever you wanna call me Ms Warwick. God bless you [sic].’
Dionne didn’t let things lie, later targeting The Weeknd – aka Abel Tesfaye – with her confusion.
‘The Weeknd is next. Why? It’s not even spelled correctly? @theweeknd,’ she wrote.
His response? ’I just got roasted by Dionne Warwick and I feel honoured! You just made my day.’
And the rest was history.
