Doctor Strange 2 fans are pretty convinced that Google may have just dropped a major spoiler when it comes to an MCU crossover in the upcoming film.
Last year, it was confirmed that fans would be seeing Benedict Cumberbatch back in action as Stephen Strange a neurosurgeon turned great sorcerer in a follow-up film to the first Doctor Strange movie that dropped in 2016.
He popped up again in Avengers: Endgame to help the likes of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor take on Thanos once and for all and now he’s set to make his comeback – continuing his research into the coveted time stone.
There has already been talk that Doctor Strange 2 could include a few Marvel cross-overs (after all, it’s pretty much a common occurrence in the MCU) and it’s thought that it will use the idea of an ‘inter-dimensional multiverse’ that will see different Marvel characters and actors pop up.
Google seems to be supporting this theory, as fans have noticed that the search engine may have given a major spoiler away while listing the Doctor Strange 2 cast.
Currently, if you search the cast, Ryan Reynolds (who plays Deadpool) and Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire come up, along with the movie’s stars Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Karl Mordo), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer) and Benedict Wong (Wong).
Marvel fans were quick to react on Twitter screen-grabbing the cast listing and sharing it for others to see.
However, it’s also been pointed out that the cast listing could very much be a mistake with Google’s algorithm – especially as the movie cast is yet to be confirmed.
So far, it’s been reported that Cumberbatch will be back as Strange and will be joined by Elizabeth Olsen who plays Scarlet Witch, with her addition to the sequel being confirmed at Comic-Con in 2019.
It’s also been reported by Variety that McAdams – despite showing up in Google’s cast listing for Doctor Strange 2 – won’t be reprising her role in the new movie.
Fans will have to wait until March 2022 to see Doctor Strange back on the big screen, with the movie being pushed back by almost a year due to the coronavirus pandemic after originally being scheduled for release in May 2021.
Production Weekly has teased the synopsis for Doctor Strange 2 to get fans excited, though, revealing: ‘After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr. Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone.
Fans will also see Doctor Strange return in Spider-Man 3, where he’s reportedly taking over from Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man as a new mentor for Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland).
