Dr Alex George has shared his joy at ‘finally’ being reunited with his parents after spending months apart, saying ‘it’s good to be home’.

In a post shared on Instagram, the former Love Island star shared a couple of photographs of himself with his dad, Anthony, and his mum, Jane, after travelling back home to Wales.

In the sweet snaps, Dr Alex, 30, can be seen staying socially-distanced from his parents, gesturing at the space between them in the first of the two pictures.

‘Missed Christmas, New Years and birthdays together but finally reunited. It’s good to be home p.s Mum’s been baking,’ he wrote in the caption.

In the second image, Dr Alex’s mum, Jane extends her arm towards her son, while remaining at a safe distance away.

Several of the doctor’s Instagram followers expressed their happiness over seeing his reunion with his family.

‘Ah this is amazing Alex. Enjoy,’ one person commented.

‘Wonderful – enjoy family time,’ another remarked.

Last month, Dr Alex shared a powerful tribute to his mum to mark Mother’s Day, sharing a selfie he took of himself with his parents by the sea.

‘Happy Mother’s Day to the most amazing Mum. You have shown incredible strength this year, I am so proud of the difference you are making to the lives of others with @knitformentalhealth,’ he wrote in the caption.

‘I can’t wait to see you and Dad again, it has been far too long. Good old stomps to come I hope. Love to all the mums out there too.’

In late March, Dr Alex announced that he was going to be taking a break from working in A&E after a ‘long and hard’ year working on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.

‘It’s been a long and hard year, which ultimately takes its toll. I have really felt it this week and I am aware I need a break,’ the doctor shared on Instagram.

In February, Dr Alex shared an emotional tribute to his late brother Llyr on what would have been his sibling’s 20th birthday, after his sibling died in July last year at the age of 19.

‘It is impossibly hard at times, we miss you so much as a family. I have always been so proud of you. I hope you are proud of me. Love you, my boy x,’ he wrote.
