Elon Musk slammed for mocking pronouns while insisting: ‘I absolutely support trans’

Elon Musk has come under fire for mocking pronouns and describing them as an ‘aesthetic nightmare’ leading critics to point out the unique spelling of his youngest son’s name.

The Tesla boss reacted to an article titled: ‘Real friends interrupt you when you are making a mistake,’ which called him out for previously sharing his annoyance at people listing their pronouns in their social media bios.

‘When you put he/him in ur bio,’ read the meme which Elon shared earlier this week alongside a photo of a soldier holding a rifle and with blood on his hands.

Addressing the article on Twitter, Elon has now said: ‘I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic [sic] nightmare.’

The billionaire entrepreneur also linked to a former tweet on Tesla’s account which stated: ‘Very proud to have scored 100/100 for the fourth year in a row in LGBTQ equality. Thanks to everyone at Tesla for making LGBTQ inclusion an important part of our culture.’

However, critics pulled Elon up on his hypocrisy about the ‘aesthetic’ when he and girlfriend Grimes chose to name their baby boy X AE A-XII, believed to be pronounced Ash X Ash A 12.

It was reported the original spelling was deemed not appropriate for registration in the state of California, but Elon stated they changed it to Roman numerals as they ‘look better’.

‘You named your child x æ a-12 and you want to call PRONOUNS an aesthetic nightmare????’ one Twitter user reacted.

Another said: ‘Named his child X Æ A-12 but thinks calling someone they/them is a hassle.’

Agreeing with the previous sentiments, one follower weighed in: ‘Elon musk named his baby X Æ A-12 but people having pronouns is where he draws the line.’

One critic quipped: ‘Fellas, what’s more an aesthetic nightmare? Using words that already exist in the English language, or giving your kid a name that sounds like a rejected Doctor Who character?’

It’s not the first time Elon, 49, has shared his thoughts on the issue as he tweeted in July: ‘Pronouns suck.’

However, Grimes – real name Claire Boucher – previously revealed she planned on raising her child as gender neutral.

During a YouTube live stream with fans in February, the 32-year-old singer said: ‘I don’t want to gender them in case that’s not how they feel in their life.’

She welcomed her first child with Elon in May while he is also father to five children from his former marriage with Justine Wilson.
