Lea Michele has opened up about experience with postpartum hair loss following the birth of her son Ever.
The Glee actress welcomed her first child with her husband Zandy Reich in August 2020.
As the star continues to adjust to her new role as a mother, she shared a post with fans on Wednesday to highlight how she was dealing with a temporary side effect of childbirth.
Sharing a picture of her hair falling out into her hand on Instagram Stories, she wrote: ‘The postpartum hair loss is REAL.’
The 34-year-old then shared a selfie showcasing her long hair as she added: ‘Enjoying this long hair while it lasts because the mom bob is right around the corner.’
According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, noticeable hair loss is normal for postpartum women after giving birth.
The excessive shedding, which is only temporary, is caused by falling estrogen levels.
Statistics show that most women see their hair return normal fullness by their child’s first birthday.
Lea has only given fans limited updates about her baby boy since his birth, but sources recently told People that Lea and Zach were ‘extremely grateful’ to become first-time parents.
A further insider told People that the baby’s middle name – Leo – was likely chosen based on his astrology star sign given he was born mid-August.
