Liam Payne has explained the ‘complications’ around seeing son Bear during the coronavirus pandemic.
The singer, who recently got engaged to girlfriend Maya Henry, welcomed his son with ex-girlfriend Cheryl in 2017.
In an Instagram Live video with his producer Ben Winston, Liam said that despite Bear only living ‘up the street’ with his mum, he has to ensure he tests negative before spending time with him.
‘I went and saw Bear today we had a little hangout which was nice as I hadn’t seen him in a couple of weeks,’ the 27-year-old said.
‘It’s hard with the Covid thing as I have to make sure I’m negative before I go over and see him so it’s having to wait that couple of days before you can test.
‘He’s only up the street and it’s dead complicated but he’s gotten so big, huge.’
Liam and Cheryl have been co-parenting their son following their split in 2018.
They have been giving fans glimpses of him on social media but mostly keep him out of the spotlight.
He previously opened up about spending Christmas with Bear last year, saying he helped the former One Direction star remember what Christmas is all about.
‘He completely gets it now! He’s been watching Home Alone and “Merry Christmas, you filthy animal” was one of his first phrases,’ the Strip That Down singer told People magazine.
‘I think it is absolutely hilarious. I wouldn’t have it any other way.’
Liam also shared his feelings about watching Bear grow up.
‘It’s been a difficult ride, but it’s fantastic watching him grow into the person he’s become.
‘He’s a really lovely boy and I feel like he’s in the middle of settling into himself’ he said.
