Marcus Rashford has revealed he is back with Lucia Loi, the childhood sweetheart he started dating when he was just 15.

The footballer, 24, took to Instagram to share series of photos of him and Lucia on various holidays and also posing with Manchester United star Jesse Lingard.

He simply captioned the sweet photos: ‘Through thick & thin,’ with a space, sun and heart emoji.

The couple, who first started dating at just 15 years old, are thought to have split in February 2021 but were rumoured to have reconciled by December.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘The intent for them to get back together has always been there. The break was good for their relationship as it offered them both space and assurance that they wanted to make this work moving forward.

‘They have been together since school so an opportunity to breathe and focus on themselves was important.’

Another insider added: ‘They have a shared history. She is one of the people who knows him best. They got back together before Christmas and are taking things slowly.

‘But they make each other happy and he knows she is loyal and he can trust her.’

Fans had speculated the couple were back together before Christmas after Lucia posted a photo of a hand on her boot which was believed to belong to Marcus.

Lucia was also spotted getting into Marcus’s car on January 3 following Manchester United’s defeat against Wolves.

The couple, who met while at Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester, had reportedly ended their eight-year relationship last year due to the ‘pressures of lockdown’.

Marcus had also become one of the heroes of the coronavirus pandemic for his work to ensure children who needed it were still able to get free school meals each day despite schools being closed to curb the spread of Covid-19.

He was also named an MBE for his work raising awareness of child food poverty and for the millions of meals which were provided to children who would otherwise have missed out on their free school meals.
