Paris Hilton never actually wore that ‘Stop Being Poor’ t-shirt

There are some noughties looks that are ingrained in our minds – Von Dutch trucker hats, dresses over jeans on the red carpet, Juicy Couture tracksuits and painfully low-rise jeans, to name but a few.

And for some, a rather cruel Paris Hilton vest that never actually existed.

The 40-year-old has debunked a photo in which she appears to wear a vest reading ‘Stop Being Poor’ – revealing it was actually Photoshopped.

On her TikTok, Paris shared the picture from 2005 of herself, wearing a graphic vest reading ‘Stop Being Poor’ with a pink ombre maxi skirt at a party at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas.

She said: ‘So there’s this photo online of me, I’m sure you’ve seen it. I never wore that shirt. This was completely Photoshopped. Everyone thinks it’s real, but that’s not the truth.’

Paris then shared the actual picture, and showed that her and her sister Nicky were both wearing vests reading ‘Stop Being Desperate’.

The heiress said: ‘This is what it really said – “Stop being desperate”. Don’t believe everything you read.’

Minds were blown in the comments section, with many fans rather disappointed that Paris wasn’t actually telling people to stop being poor.

The DJ liked one comment reading: ‘The photoshopped one do be inspirational tho’, as well as a comment from a fan which read: ‘Are you sh***ing me Paris… I’ve been quoting this my whole life, so basically my life’s a lie?’

The t-shirt present day Paris was wearing in the TikTok featured an un-Photoshopped slogan of hers, though, as she rocked a tee reading: ‘Sliving.’

Joining ‘That’s hot’ in the Paris-isms hall of fame, the star coined ‘Sliving’ in 2019 as a mash-up of slaying and living.

Paris told Elle: ‘My new word is “sliving”. It’s slaying mixed with living my best life. I am sliving, sliving it, sliving my best life, sliving single … I googled it because I was like, has anyone thought of this word yet? And it’s not a word yet.’

As well as inventing ‘sliving’, Paris – who is engaged to Carter Reum – claimed that she invented the selfie in 2006 with Britney Spears.

Sadly, it emerged that there are pictures of men taking their own photos with box cameras in the 1920s, so she may have to surrender that claim – or debunk it herself on TikTok.
