Katie, 42, and Carl, 31, announced the news of their engagement this week after around 10 months of dating.
It’ll be the fourth time Katie walks down the aisle; she was previously married to Peter, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler.
While Peter is yet to publicly congratulate his former spouse on her happy news, sources say he couldn’t be more chuffed that Carl will make her his wife.
An insider told OK! Magazine: ‘Pete is really happy for Katie and Carl. He didn’t know Katie was engaged but he expected they may get engaged soon and he thinks it’s great.
‘He thinks love is a beautiful thing and you can’t ask for anything more.’
Peter, 48, and Katie were married from 2005-2009 and share two children; son Junior, 15, and daughter Princess, 13.

Peter’s reported sentiments couldn’t be further from the tensions between Katie and her most recent husband, Kieran, who claimed they were still married despite her announcing their divorce had been finalised in March.
Kieran, 34, told the MailOnline: ‘We are technically still married.
‘There are still forms we have to fill out and there’s the decree nisi that needs to go through that hasn’t been approved yet so no, we are not divorced and I don’t know why everyone keeps saying we are divorced when we’re not.’
Calling the situation ‘annoying’, he added: ‘Kate said it, which is very strange considering she’s the respondent from the divorce.’
However, Katie, who shares her children Jett and Bunny with Kieran, wasn’t having any of it and brutally hit back on her Instagram Stories.
Taking aim at her ex’s relationship with his fiancee Michelle Penticost, she also branded him a ‘nobody’.
The My Crazy Life star wrote: ‘Well @officialkieranhayler we all know Michell isn’t your last and hasn’t been, stop trying to use me for media attention your not famous you are a nobody! [sic]
‘For the sake of our kids let’s hope they don’t witness what they did in the past by your continuous behaviour.’
