Romesh Ranganathan suddenly ‘quits’ Twitter: ‘I don’t like it here anymore’

Romesh Ranganathan has announced that he will be leaving Twitter as he ‘doesn’t like’ the platform any more.

The comedian added that he will still be updating his fans on Facebook – where he regularly does Facebook Live videos – Instagram and TikTok before joking that he might launch an OnlyFans.

He revealed his decision in one final tweet before seemingly leaving the social media site.

The TV star wrote in a tweet on Tuesday: ‘I don’t like it here anymore so this is my last ever tweet.

‘Goodbye forever! (I’m on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and probably OnlyFans soon).’

Romesh did not share what prompted him to leave and it’s not clear if his departure is permanent.

His followers pleaded with him to change his mind, with one writing: ‘Oh no!! I don’t have any of the other social media platforms you’ve mentioned! Face with rolling eyes STAY! Please’.

Another said: ‘That’s a shame but I don’t blame you Romesh, there’re some real f’wits (sic) on here.

‘But there’re also some top people. It’s just that, thankfully, I don’t have to take the s**t you do.’

One fan sympathised, writing: ‘Yeah feeling same. People just wana argue with you rather than debate and talk in a civilised way. I cant see me staying here much longer.’

It came one day after the news that his comedy panel programme The Ranganation would be returning for a third series in lockdown.

Each episode sees the host discuss light-hearted news topics with his ‘Ranganation’, 20 outspoken people who represent a cross-section of Britain. His mum Shanthi also joins in on the fun.

Having filmed the previous series from his home the funnyman will be returning to the studio.

He said: ‘Working with The Ranganation is always a highlight for me, so I’m looking forward to being virtually reunited with them all and unpicking the week’s events together.

‘We are also back in the studio, which is partly because we have figured out a way to do it safely but mainly because my marriage wouldn’t have survived doing the show from my house again.’
