Wrexham Football Club fans were in for a treat this week as owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney paid a visit to the ground.
Ryan, 45, and Rob, 44, are joint owners of the Welsh club, the third-oldest professional association football team in the world, and made it along to visit their investment.
They were seen signing autographs and taking selfies with delighted fans as they arrived at the Racehorse Ground for a press conference this week.
The pair completed on their purchase in February 2021, and Deadpool star Ryan told the Leader newspaper he’s certain they made the right choice: ‘100 per cent. Unlike any other club we ever looked at, Wrexham within the first 30 or 40 minutes of the deepish dive that we started to take, it was a no-brainer.
‘It was perfect. The history here, the reverence for the game, the people, the town, the Racecourse, it’s a no brainer.’
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Rob added: ‘The message is the same that it has always been which is this is your club.
‘It’s not ours – Ryan and I – but we are now a part of the story, we are a part of the journey and we want to do everything we can to make sure that this club stays around for another 150 years.’
The pair both took to social media to mark the occasion, with rob filming him and Ryan walking around the pitch as they marvelled on it being ‘bigger’ than they’d imagined it to be, both literally and figuratively.
Rob shared a photo of him looking emotional next to Ryan who was on FaceTime as he told his followers: ‘This is my favourite photo so far. I had just spoken with @kaitlinolson and my boys. @vancityreynolds is talking to @blakelively and his girls.
‘The emotion of the moment had just overwhelmed me. This whole experience has been beautiful. Thank you @wrexham_afc,’
Ryan added on his own post: ‘Wrexham AFC is the only place to beeee.’
