ASDA has announced the debut of their adapted apparel collection, which is intended to help young adults and children with disabilities dress themselves.
The 24-piece collection is both comfortable and elegant, and it has been tailored to specific demands, with subtle and useful changes.
The collection follows the popularity of the brand’s Easy on Easy Wear school uniform line, which debuted in September.
The store recruited the services of 14-year-old Ava Joliffe, an award-winning deaf and blind artist from Preston, to help create the collection.
Ava aided the design team with the range’s accessibility, giving genuine advocacy for young impaired individuals. She took extra care to ensure that the items stayed faithful to the main kidswear range.
George’s buying manager Vicki Radford said: ‘It was really important to Ava that we designed our adapted collection in line with the main kidswear range, so children with disabilities can wear the same as their friends.
‘And it was really important to us that these pieces remain competitively priced and affordable to all our customers.
‘Working with Ava was a real joy; we’re all so proud of the pieces we’ve created together, and as a brand, are delighted to have been able to extend the range past schoolwear to encompass everyday dressing.’
The emphasis is on functionality throughout, but style is equally vital.
The collection, designed for children 3-16 and priced from £9, has distinctive designs such as camoflauge and leopard.
Hidden hook and loop fasteners have been installed on necklines to aid in the putting on and taking off of sweatshirts and t-shirts.
Meanwhile, higher backs and longer legs helped to achieve a level waistline and ideal leg length while seated.
Furthermore, holes for working around feeding tubes have been included, and soft threads have been particularly inserted. Care labels can also be removed to avoid discomfort and to help youngsters with sensory issues.
The collection is now available for purchase both online and in-store.
