Nisha Ganatra is the groundbreaking director of feminine hygiene brand Bodyform’s “Womb Stories” video – an emotional, and artful account of womanhood. The advertisement shows raw depictions of periods, pregnancy, miscarriage, endometriosis, menopause, and refreshing narratives on Lesbian and Black love.
Womb Stories challenges ideas around femininity and fertility, by showing intimate moments of plucking nipple hairs, vibing with saggy boobs, and the anxiety that comes with getting your first period – and in white shorts! It’s about the pressure to have, or not have, children and everything in between. Although Bodyform’s Womb Stories shares a wide variety of feminine experiences – which is excellently done, and absolutely revolutionary – it would have been nice to see a bit more ethnic diversity of Asian women and a depiction of trans men who choose to continue menstruation, that is not normally given a platform. But “Womb Stories” (#WombStories) is a phenomenally bold campaign, which “aims to give a voice to women’s health”, the brand explains in a press statement.
Womb Stories is about the pain, the love, the hate, the complexities of femininity and fertility – watch the full video above. Then, check out the beautiful poem written in the description and the resources available at Bodyform.Credit: Original article published here.
