Bradley Cooper has dismissed acting awards as ‘very interesting and utterly meaningless’ during a candid conversation with his A Star Is Born costar Anthony Ramos.

Speaking to Ramos for Interview, Bradley said: ‘That awards season stuff is a real test. It’s set up to foster that mentality.

‘It’s quite a thing to work through, and it’s completely devoid of artistic creation.’

The 45-year-old continued: ‘It’s not why you sacrifice everything to create art, and yet you spend so much time being a part of it if you’re, in quotes, “lucky enough to be a part of it.”

‘It’s ultimately a great thing because it really does make you face ego, vanity, and insecurity. It’s very interesting and utterly meaningless.’

Cooper – who directed the aforementioned music drama, which also featured Lady Gaga – has won a total of 69 awards out of 227 nominations.

We’re guessing he doesn’t keep them on the mantelpiece?

Among his nominations are four acting Oscars: the first in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook, and the second the following year, for best supporting actor for American Hustle.

He was nominated again for best actor for 2015’s American Sniper and again in 2019 for A Star Is Born. That same year, and for the same film, he also received best picture and best adapted screenplay nods.
