How to watch Elf in the UK this Christmas

Is there a funnier Christmas film than Elf? (Answer: No, probably not.)

Elf is about a baby who accidentally ends up in Santa’s sleigh, only to be taken to the North Pole and subsequently raised by elves.

Once all grown up, Elf (Will Ferrell) finds himself missing something in life – and goes searching for his dad, bringing festive cheer to (just about) everyone he meets.

Eventually, Elf teams up with Zooey Deschanel to help save Christmas from certain disaster.

This festive favourite, from 2003, has practically reached ‘classic’ status – and is so iconic Ferrell reportedly refused to take a whopping $29 million for a sub-par sequel.

Want to watch? Here’s where it’s available in the UK?

Unfortunately, Elf isn’t on Netflix in the UK – nor is it a Disney Plus film.

The Jon Favreau-directed Christmas hit is available to watch on NowTV, but only if you have a Cinema Membership.

This is because it’s only available on Sky Cinema. A monthly subscription costs £9.99, but there is a 7-day free trial offer.

If you’re willing to pay to watch, you can also rent Elf on Amazon Prime UK for £3.49.

But if you love to laugh at Ferrell’s antics over and over, you can also buy the film there for £5.99.

When is Elf on TV over Christmas?

Sadly, you won’t be able to watch Elf on BBC, ITV or Channel 4 this year, as it’s a Sky exclusive.

Elf is next airing on Sunday, December 19 at 4.25pm on Sky Cinema Christmas (Channel 303).

It’ll then be on the same channel on Thursday, December 23 at the later time of 9.35pm.

Then on Friday, December 24 (aka Christmas Eve) it’ll be on again at lunchtime, starting at 12.50pm.
