Keanu Reeves appears to be pretty into the idea of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and this is not a drill.
The Matrix star showed off a fair bit of Marvel knowledge when asked if he would ever join the MCU – the idea of which he also called ‘an honour’, FYI.
Appearing in a new Explain This video for Esquire, the actor responded: ‘Isn’t it bigger than a universe? It’s almost like a multiverse… It’s a Marvel-verse.’
The 57-year-old is, of course, entirely correct in his musings there.
He continued: ‘It would be an honour. There’s some really amazing directors, and visionaries, and they’re doing something no one’s ever really done.
‘It’s special in that sense in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it’d be cool to be a part of that.’
Fans were whipped into a frenzy on September 4 after the Marvel UK & Ireland account on Twitter seemingly randomly wished Keanu a happy birthday, despite his non-involvement in its franchise, before swiftly deleting the post.
Elsewhere in the written interview for Esquire, Keanu lived up to his reputation as the nicest person in Hollywood after his Speed co-star Sandra Bullock recalled a time he showed up to her house with champagne and truffles – a week after she mentioned she’d never had them.
Apparently turning up at her house in the mid-90s on his motorcycle with the treats, he said: ‘I just thought you might want to try champagne and truffles, to see what it’s like’, before cracking open the treats and letting Sandra, who had been painting her own nails black, paint his nails too.
Is there a man more deserving of joining the MCU if he so wishes? Stand aside Harry ‘Eros’ Styles – your crown may be slipping.
So which Marvel characters could be available in a Phase 5 film and how do we make this happen?
