Sonic The Hedgehog sequel reveals title and logo and hints at Tails Prowler appearance

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has revealed its title and logo, as well as giving a big hint about a familiar face appearing in the next film.

The movie, which had Parks and Recreation star Ben Schwartz voicing the hedgehog, and Jim Carrey as Doctor Eggman, is about to come back for more, with the studio dropping a very brief teaser.

In a slightly underwhelming move, the title of the movie has been unveiled as, erm, Sonic The Hedgehog 2.

The announcement reads: ‘Groundbreaking. Thought provoking. Extremely obvious. Presenting the official title of the #SonicMovie sequel: Sonic the Hedgehog 2! Catch #SonicMovie2 in theatres in 2022.’

However, the logo is a little more exciting, as it seems to include a reference to Miles ‘Tails’ Prowler, hinting that he might be set to make an appearance.

In the video games, Tails becomes Sonic’s best friend and sidekick, helping him out however can on his adventures.

He is able to use his twin-tails to fly by rotating them like helicopter rotors and is a mechanic genius and aerial pilot.

The post-credits scene for the first film also saw Tails, voiced by Colleen Villard, arriving from a different world to search for Sonic – so we might be about to see a reunion.

Fans are thrilled at the prospect, with one writing: ‘idk if y’all are aware of how stoked i am at the possibility of seeing sonic and tails like ??? hanging out ?????? being best buds ????? their friendship is so sweet and it means a lot to me.’

‘The Sonic Movie 2 logo looks nice, and that is great that it is trending!!! Can’t wait to see this movie and to see Sonic and Tails together!!!’ another said, while one more wrote: ‘Perfection. #SonicMovie (yeah, I’m a Tails fan, so what ?)’.

The original movie caused a bit of a stir when the character design was revealed – and simply nobody was a fan.

The studio then delayed the movie to re-design pretty much everything, although Sonic star Ben admitted to that he thought the whole saga was actually a good thing.

‘The biggest thing for us…was that we had no idea if anybody cared about our movie. And so like, with this trailer coming [out], it was “Let’s see if we get any views.” And then we got all of them. We got all the views!’ he said.

‘And so for us, it was finding that everybody’s passionate about this. So [it was] just a whole wonderful breath of life to our movie being like, “All right, let’s really push down. Let’s figure this out and work it out.”‘

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is set for release in 2022.
