When the trailer for the hotly-anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped last month, many fans started dissecting it in search of any clues about what the upcoming Marvel film has in store.
One of the most discussed frames of the promo video weirdly just involved a pair of forearms, which people speculated could belong to Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock from the Netflix show Daredevil.
But as Marvel fans flood back to the movies to watch the newly-released Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, an alternate version of the trailer seems to have dispelled those theories.
The trailer released online saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker under police custody after his identity was revealed at the end of the previous instalment, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
While police question him about the death of Mysterio (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) a figure outside of the frame slams a pile of documents in front of Spider-Man.
In an attempt to figure out what exactly is happening with the web-slinger, fans started thinking that this figure in a white shirt might be his lawyer. And as chance will have it, Marvel already introduced us to a superhero attorney in New York.

In 2015, Netflix kicked off its series of Marvel TV show with Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox in the role of Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer by day and masked vigilante by night on the streets of New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen.
While Cox recently denied those being his arms, Marvel fans know not to trust anything that comes out of actors’ mouths until they can get their own proof.
And the proof has finally come in the form of a post by Twitter user Gymblonski who recently went to see Shang-Chi in IMAX.
Before the showing, the trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man played, which allowed this one fan to see the face above those forearms since IMAX movies have a different aspect ratio.

‘Saw #Shangchi in imax and they played the #SpiderManNoWayHome trailer before and because of the increased aspect ratio I was able to see the face behind the arms and can confirm it is NOT Charlie Cox #Daredevil,’ they wrote.
Another fan also pointed out that the face of the forearms-man looks like that of the agent who is questioning Peter in the clip immediately preceding this moment.
Eagle-eyed viewers also spotted this agent was wearing a DODC label on his jacket, indicating he is an officer for the Department of Damage Control, a governmental division set up by Tony Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D. and introduced in the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man movie.

So while Cox’s presence in this one particular scene seems to have been dispelled, it doesn’t necessarily mean the actor will no make an appearance in the movie or in other MCU projects.
In a previous interview with Steve Varley on Youtube, Cox played coy about whether he would be joining the MCU soon, saying he didn’t want to spoil anything.
But does that mean there is somethign to spoil?
Spider-Man: No Way Home comes out in cinemas on November 17.
