Where was The Holiday filmed? All the locations from the Christmas favourite

It’s not Christmas until you’ve watched The Holiday at least once, and UK audiences will recognise some of the idyllic locations from the movie.

The 2006 Christmas film, which stars Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black among its all-star cast, has been a firm festive favourite for 14 years.

Juxtaposing the lush landscapes of Southern California with the quaint English countryside, viewers are always in awe of the stunning locations.

But where was The Holiday filmed and can you visit the famous cottage from the movie? Here’s everything you need to know.

Where was The Holiday filmed?

The film was shot in Southern California as well as Shere and Godalming in Surrey, as Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz’s characters – Irish and Amanda – swap homes for the holidays after having relationship struggles.

Where is Amanda’s home that Iris goes to stay at?

The house Iris stays at is a 10,000 square foot home in Southern California’s San Marino estate, which went on sale in early 2018 for $11.8 million (£8.7 million).

Where is the cottage in The Holiday?

While the cottage doesn’t actually exist, it’s based on a real house in Surrey (Picture: Universal Pictures)

Rosehill Cottage – the name given to the house Amanda stays in in the film – sadly is not a real place. The location was actually a soundstage and exterior built for the film.

The cottage was inspired by the real Honeysuckle Cottage, in Surrey’s Holmbury St Mary, which sold for £625,000 in 2019.

Can you visit Amanda and Graham’s date location at Cornwell Manor in Chipping Norton?

Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Graham (Jude Law) visit the stunning country estate in Chipping Norton, and while Cornwell Manor is not open to the public, you can recreate the stunning scenes by hiring it for weddings and parties.
Does the pub where Graham and Amanda meet exist?

Graham and Amanda’s first date takes place at The White Horse which thankfully is a real place in Shere, and the inside of the pub was kept as it appears on the film.

The pub itself has appeared on many movies including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and The Wedding Date.

Where is Graham’s house from The Holiday?

While the inside of Jude Law’s character’s house was created for the film, the exterior, Mill House, is a real property which is in Wonersh.
