James Corden popped up at the 2020 MAMAs (Mnet Asia Music Awards) to present an award to BTS.

The seven member group – RM, Jin, Jimin, Suga, Jungkook, J-Hope and V – won album of the year at MAMA for their comeback Map Of The Soul: 7.

The TV presenter spoke about the ‘special bond’ he had formed with the boy group over the years from their various appearances on his programme, The Late Late Show.

He also referenced the ongoing joke between himself and BTS after the group affectionately called him Jimin’s dad.

James, speaking from behind his Late Late Show desk in a video message, said: ‘I couldn’t be more proud of the recipients of this award. We have a special bond. Their pre-release song was first performed right here on my show.

‘In many ways I am one of the members’ father’s as Papa Mochi so I am especially happy to announce the winner of 2020 MAMA of the year goes to BTS.’

In January the South Korean group performed Map Of The Soul: 7 pre-release single Black Swan for the first time ever on The Late Late Show.

The members, minus Suga who is recovering from a shoulder injury, made their way on stage to accept the prize.

They paused to call the rapper at home, holding the microphone up to the phone.

Suga revealed he was watching the awards from home and was ‘really grateful’ to have won as ‘it means this album is loved the most.’

Of course it wasn’t the Fake Love singers’ only win on the night, as they picked up best dance performance, best video and worldwide fans’ choice.
