JYP Entertainment has responded to reports GOT7 star Yugyeom has decided to leave the agency.
The seven-member K-Pop group debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2014.
There has been much speculation among fans as to how the group will continue in 2021, as K-Pop groups tend to sign to an agency for seven years.
A report from SPO TV News on Wednesday claimed that Yugyeom will not renew his contract and move to hip-hop/R&B label AOMG.
Artists currently signed to AOMG include Jay Park, Gray, Hoody and Punchnello.
JYP Entertainment didn’t deny the singer had not renewed, but responded in a statement to media: ‘We are still discussing various possibilities regarding GOT7’s contracts, and we will inform you when we are ready.’
GOT7 is made up of Yugyeom, Jinyoung, Mark, JB, Jackson, Bam Bam and Youngjae.
It is not known whether Yugyeom is leaving the group, however the members have said in the past that they hope to stay together no matter what happens.
Mark told Metro.co.uk last year: ‘We’ve been together for such a long time that we just understand each other.
‘In the beginning, we tried to talk a lot. However, as we spend more and more time together, we started to learn so much about each other. I think that communication is the key.’
GOT7’s last comeback was Breath Of Love: Last Piece in November 2020.
The group themselves are yet to comment on the reports, however Yugyeom added ‘Artist’ to his Instagram profile, while Mark changed his to ‘One of seven’.
